A short film entitled ‘We Were Once a Fairytale’ went up on Kanye’s official blog last night. Directed by Spike Jonze, it’s basically ten minutes of Kanye acting crazy messed up and belligerent in a club. Pretty much what you’d expect him to be like in real life after a bottle of Hennessey and some Bolivian marching powder. Then he meets a knife welding rat in the bathroom and things get REAL weird...

There’s been no official explanation or press release to accompany the short. All anyone really knows is it was created before Kanye’s recent, ahem, ‘troubles’. In that context it’s eerily prophetic. And super creepy. And kinda awesome.

PS. Spike Jonze new movie, ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ is currently #1 in the US Box Office.

PPS. The official Vimeo version of the video was taken down within hours. This YouTube version is missing the opening 1 minute or so. (this version was taken down also)

Academy Award + Oscar + Golden Globe. When it comes to playing a drunk and obnoxious Kanye West, Kanye West is simply unsurpassed. Also, good work Spike Jonze.

Does anyone have any idea how hard it is to act drunk? Not the rolling about, falling all over the place comic drunk, but the kind of drunk Kanye does here? This is supreme acting. Most drunks don't realise they're drunk. It's all about pretending you're a drunk guy trying to be sober. Personally, I think he nails it. I'm no fan either Brendan, but this is seriously impressive shizzle.

yeah caught this yesterday...interesting flick. i think its a combination of kayne metaphorically saying he's killing his ego in the weird bathroom scene and for spike's own personal hype generation for the release of where the wild things are.
