Halloween Horror
Whether you celebrate Halloween or not, any excuse is a good excuse to watch horror movies. The jovial nature of this pagan ritual allows us to indulge in low-level horror without the usual guilt. It’s almost the one time of the year when it’s OK to rent the cheapest looking horror film in your video store and be proud of it.

We have compiled a top ten list of horror movie recommendations for Halloween. Remember, these films are by no means classics and viewing is preferable in an inebriated state. We advise you that your video store staff will probably overpower you with their judgmental stares. Nevertheless, all of these films will provide over 90 minutes of entertainment and unintended horror-filled laughter. Watch them if you dare…

10. The Return of the Living Dead (1985)
The definitive horror/comedy is hilariously chaotic.

9. Jeepers Creepers (2001)
Ignore the last ten minutes, the first hour is terrifyingly good.

8. Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Excellent remake that in many ways is superior to the original, let the debate begin.

7. Willard (2003)

Unappreciated film with Crispin Glover (George McFly) at his creepy best.

6. Planet Terror (2007)
Too much fun.

5. From Dusk till Dawn (1996)

Even more fun.

4. Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight (1995)
People hate this film, I think it’s a fun way to spend 90 minutes.

3. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Manages to be a parody and a zombie movie in one. Genius.

2. Evil Dead 2 (1987)
Coolest horror hero ever.

1. Halloween (1978)
Predictable choice but 30 years on it still worthy of your time.
