The man behind many of the U.S’s most notable snow parks over the past decade, innovative terrain park creator Tyrone Coyne, has left Mountain High in Wrightwood, California to launch Super parX, an international terrain park design and management company. Planning to specialise in resort consultation, special events and special effects for movies and television, Coyne is hoping the reputation he’s built up by developing many of the top freestyle terrain parks and special events on the west coast will ensure his new business prospers. And why wouldn’t it? The list of projects the lad was involved with reads like a “must hit list” of the States; the park at Big Bear Mountain, West Ridge at Snow Summit, and Fault Line at Mountain High, along with the quality installations at the Winter X Games, Hard Rock Hard Rock Café High Roller Rail Jam, Nixon Jib Fests, Vans Triple Crown, Transworld Snowboarding Team Challenge, Forum Young Bloods, Mack Dawgs Junkyard Jib Fest and Kawasaki Triple Air.

Through Super parX, Coyne will continue to design, ship, and install custom terrain features as well as custom rail and jib fabrications, but this time for snow resorts all over the globe. Combining snow and steel to create park environs that defy natural laws, Coyne puts his success thus far down to simply loving his snow sports yet keeping a business eye on the job.

Coyne explains; “We are lifelong enthusiasts of the same sports our fans indulge in. We know the riding and boarding demographic. It is us. And that kinship shows in every never-been-done-before design we make real. But we’re not wide-eyed creatives, dreaming up impossibly extreme terrains. We know destination resorts are serious business. So we take the time to understand goals, objectives, specific design needs, and how best to put into action a terrain plan that works.”

Coyne’s freakish ability to work wonders stems from his long association with the snow park industry, and a little bit of trial and error! “If you go back to the early 90’s in SoCal and terrain parks are just starting to pop up. There we are - learning things the hard way,” he says, adding, "My colleagues and I are passionate about snow sports," said Coyne. "We accept no less than cutting-edge designs. We listen to the needs of snow resort management, event sponsors and riders to strive to develop the sickest rides around."

Indeed. Look out for his work at a park near you soon.

Word up. Makes me jealous, I wish I had a job where I could be in the snow and build parks.
