When it comes to video game fan art people usually go down one of two routes; cutesy and super deformed or highly stylised. Japan’s Masao takes a third option. He prefers to depict his 8bit heroes camp and sexed-up.
Concentrating on classic Nintendo characters, Masao has been re-imaging his childhood for several years now. Since his website is all in Japanese that’s pretty much all we know about him. We assume the video game illustrations are just a side gig, but who knows?
Whatever the case, we’ll never be able to look at Mario / Mega Man and the rest of the cast in the same light again.
