Italian Art Deco Graphic Design
For the next installment of our Italian fiesta, boozily brought to you by our sugar daddies at Galliano, we thought a fitting topic to cover is that of Italian graphic design. Italians are fairly well known for their industrial and automotive design but for the most part their graphic design has been somewhat over-shadowed by their European cousins across the border.

During the Art Deco period – although the European advertising poster art world was fairly dominated by the French – Italian designers such as Federico Seneca, Lanfranco Felin and Lucio Venna were putting their own Italian stamp on the Art Deco style. Granted today some of the symbols and subjects used could be considered a little politically incorrect, but in terms of communication through design and the suggestive use of stylised forms they were on the money.

To the right of this post is a small collection of vintage Italian graphic design from the 30s and 40s.
