As bushfires continue to burn across Victoria, the death toll stands at 108 people. 750 homes, 330 thousand hectres, and the entire townships of Kinglake and Marysville have all been lost tofires that authorities say could take weeks to contain.

Perhaps most terrifying is that the bushfires that burned mostly in the North-East and South-East of Victoria are being treated as crime scenes as arson is suspected in some cases. Through the tragedy though, there are also amazing stories of real heroism, bravery and generosity.

So instead of worrying about who pashed whom on Friday night, or if somebody's Facebook status update is stupid, or if you look a little fatty-boom-batty in your jeans today, spare a thought. And some dollars: redcross.org.au.

In this case arsonists should be treated in the same way as serial killers would. Sick fucks. The whole thing is devastating.

My sister had a close scare at Horsham and my brother was out fighting in Southwest Vicco. I can't believe sick fucks get off on lighting these things. I live in SA now and the cops and fire brigade members spent Saturday driving backroads looking for suspicious cars, luckily there were no major fires before the cool change hit. Hope things improve before the next warm front hits on Saturday. Peace all

I just read that authorities think the death toll will double. So sad and scary.

Donating blood is another great way to help. Over the coming months the burns victims will need multiple blood transfusions to assist in their recovery. To register online go to: www.donateblood.com.au

The place I work for just donated $100k. This is huge. Now, I better get off here and do some work for a change, lest they try to cut freeaky costs around the office.

it's gone up to something like 125 dead now. The people who lit the blaze should be burnt at the stake.

Absolutely devastating. Today the fires were officially announced the worst natural disaster in Australian history. Our thoughts and hearts are with the thousands of families who have suffered.

This is so extreme, I got sun burnt at the Big Day Out and it blistered and hurt like hell, so i can only imagine how horrific being burned by actual *fire* would be like :O the company I work for just "donated $30,000 to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund, 100% of which will go to victims of the bushfires." Maybe we should start a Life Lounge fund? Go team! - Jake XOOX

It is so devastating. These people are never going to get over this. I hope the people who lit the fires suffer for what they did.
