Apparently you can’t use 'great apes' in televisions commercials anymore. That’s the word coming out of the US where the Advertising Council has spearheaded an initiative not to use chimpanzees in any TV spots. Several major advertising agencies have followed suit.

Turns out that getting monkeys to dress up and star in commercials isn’t very nice. Sure, they look cute and all, but you usually have to whip the shit out of them to prompt any kind co-operation. Not cool.

While this move probably won’t have a great impact in Australia (where the monkeys in advertising ratio is slim), it leaves the people who make the Career Builder ads in the US up a certain creek without a certain paddle. Check out the TV spots below to see what we mean.

Also, this doesn’t bode well for Lancelot Link making a return to cable TV anytime soon.

yeah, yeah - heard it all before..... "don't whip the talent". and now we have "don't whip the talent unless it's in a rider on their contract". What's next, fucking comfy chairs, catering and caravans for the talent? Bullshit. I'll whip Nicole to get her to perform if i have to.

I'm like Dave Chappelle:Have you ever tried to catch a monkey? It's not like you going to entice him with a fruit basket or something and be like "Here monkey monkey monkey,oh here you go little buddy with your bright red ass.No way you couldn't do that, you know how strong a monkey is? He would snap your dick off like a celery stick and throw it in the tall grass to never be found." The whole skit http://www.jibjab.com/view/109498

The ad's look so 'cute' until you actually think about the reality of them behind the scenes, where they are being treated like animals... wait...

Like in the original movie "Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth" when Hans the Icelandic has a duck name Gertrude and she follows him everywhere until when they get sucked into the "center of the earth"or a Bermuda triangle like effect they end up on the beach.Hans and everyone but Count Saknussem passes out.The duck follows Count Saknussem to where the lost city of Atlantis was,he eats Gertrude while Hans is sleep.Hans wakes up and starts looking for Gertrude his duck and finds bloody feathers then sees Count Saknussem. You have to find out the rest for yourself.
