You've got to give it to the humble animated GIF. For such a simple
piece of technology it's one of the true survivors of web 1.0. Prior to
it being hijacked by web banners for porn sites and online sweepstakes,
the animated GIF was at the pinnacle of online "hi-speed" animation
playback. Threatened with broadband and the rise of Flash, the animated
GIF has combatted it's somewhat outdated tech value with it's appeal of
lo-fi radness and efficieny. In the past we've featured websites such
as
Sweet GIFs but I just came across another one called
threeframes which is definitely worth sharing.
