Blackle is Bullshit

The Lounge

Sooooo it turns out that all the hype for Blackle, the black Google search that Toby Heap came up with, is a load of crap. It actually, if anything, has a negative effect on energy, not positive like we were all lead to believe. It only has a positive (negligible) effect on old CRT monitors, not the common LCD screens. Also turns out that Heap didn't research it at all and was just going off a blog quote by Mark Ontkush... But then again, why would you when the estimated revenue is in the thousands per day. Ride the eco frenzy and cash in huh?

To summarise. Do not use this service, as it is more harmful to the environment than good.

Actually I like blackle. I love black in general. It is just that they text colours are so greyish... So I turned to gugl.me instead. They have lovely and pleasant scheme, good for your eyes.

There are around 25 different versions of “black google” online. The best one I’ve found is www.cleanblack.com. Cleanblack is the only version that allows you to change the text colors of the google search results. Try it yourself by going to www.cleanblack.com/theme/
