In the olden days, back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, there was no such thing as smartphones, Gameboys or Sony PSPs. If you were stuck on public transport and wanted electronic entertainment the best you could hope for was a Nintendo Game and Watch.
The small handheld devices were pretty basic, but they helped introduce characters like Donkey Kong and were more fun than looking at knife-wielding crazies on the train. Thirty years later, Poland’s Hipototam Studio allow you to relive those halcyon days on your computer – copyright law be damned.
While their Pica Pic website doesn’t offer any sort of explanation or details, the basic gist is they’ve gone back and digitised a bunch of classic electronic hand-held games. They’ve got weird Russia games, old Nintendo titles, space invader clones, licensed movie tie-ins and a whole lot of other stuff.
We don’t know why or how they’ve done all this, but if you’re looking for a way to kill time there’s several weeks’ worth of distractions on offer.
