Korejanai Robo is a Japanese toy made out of wood and entered in the 2008 Good Design Awards. The name means ‘not this robot’. The Pentax K-r is a mid level Digital SLR. The name doesn’t mean anything.
What happens when you bring them together? Happy Accident! (Also known as a collector’s wet dream.)
While Pentax have previously toyed with limited run cameras, nothing they’ve released has ever been as niche or limited as the Pentax ‘Korejanairobo’ K-r. As the photos suggests, the standard camera has been pimped out to look like a Korejanai Robo – complete with hand-drawn face. While the
camera specs remain the same, the real appeal here is ‘t3h collectability’. Only 100 of these are being produced and they’re going to be worth a lot of money one day. Maybe a billion trillion dollars!
The Pentax ‘Korejanai Robo’ K-r will be released on December 24th. If you don’t feel like flying to Japan and lining up outside a shop for days, you can visit the official Pentax website and
assemble your own Pentax K-r from an assortment of colour schemes. Pink and Green, anyone? Anyone?
