I am getting a little obsessed with buying a new camera at the moment. A couple of guys I know just bought the new Canon G10 badass black 14.7 – pants off – MEGA pixel digital / portable SLRs and they have me frothing at the mouth. I am, however, waiting with baited breath. Waiting for someone I know to buy the Olympus Pen as it is rumoured to be killer. I used to lug around a 35mm Nikon F4, then a 35mm Nikon F5, then I went to the Nikon D2X digital SLR. But I've had it, it's over, I will never cart that thing around again. But I have an empty hole inside, I need the power of a high end digital SLR without the burden of the size. Enter the new category killers. These cameras seem to have it all: portability, HUGE resolution, SLR capabilities and beautiful, high quality lenses.
It is with all this interest, and far too much background on my photographic problems that I like to report on the special edition all white Leica M8. This baby personifies all that I love about the in-betweeners as I call them. "The LEICA M8 'White Edition' is available in a set including a silver anodised LEICA ELMARIT-M 1:2.8/28 mm ASPH lens and strictly limited to just 275 examples. The uniqueness is further emphasised by the special serial numbers assigned exclusively to the cameras.
The exclusive white Nappa cowhide leather of the LEICA M8 'White Edition' makes the Leica M8 a particularly comfortable camera to hold. The camera is accompanied by a high-quality, real leather carrying strap, embossed with the Leica logo. All control elements are finished in silver chrome and, in combination with the lens, perfectly round off the overall styling of the set. The top cover, bottom plate and the camera back are finished in white paint."
AMAZING but then it's $8,500USD... Forget all that, I will wait to get my hands on the
Olympus Pen, I think.
