Are you looking for a stylish and practical way to share your awesome taste in music on crowded public transport? The Lasonic iPod Boombox has you covered. A collaboration between the '80s audio brand and Japanese clothing label Uniform Experiment, it will announce our arrival from several hundred metres/decibels away.
As the photos suggest, it’s a retro styled boombox with space to plug in your iPod. And, yeah, that’s pretty much it. Add some batteries and you can spend your day walking up and down the same block blasting some Public Enemy like you’re on some Radio Raheem isht. Alternatively, you can catch a peak hour train, strap the boombox to your shoulders and entertain everyone with some 2 Live Crew turned up to eleventy. People will appreciate the distraction. No, really.
Whatever you end up doing with it, the system costs around $650 and is available online from Uniform Experiment stores. Of course you could pay a third of that and just buy yourself a portable iPod dock, but that’s not nearly as fun. And it also means we can’t post Radio Raheem YouTube videos – which is what we basically live for.
