So we all know Nooka, yes? They make those plastic watches with the LCD displays that are really hard to read but look cool. We’re written about them before
here, and
here, and even
here. Having created a nice little niche for themselves, the New York-based company is now looking to upscale its production process and release a series of wall clocks. Thing is – they need money. (Your money.)
Like a number of other indie start-ups, Nooka has taken their fundraising directly to the public. The basic deal is they need $40 thousand to create their wall clocks and they’d like fans to throw some money in their direction. Donations start at $5 and go all the way up to $10K – which will buy you a seat on the company board for six months. Depending on how much you throw their way they’ll reward you with products; $500 gets you a clock.
The actual wall clocks they have in mind are classic Nooka designs: all LCD displays, long columns and bold colours. Just the thing for your graphic design company’s minimalist office in a relevant location. Right?
Oh yeah, company founder Matthew Waldman has made a little video to help sell the concept – um, he probably shouldn’t have. Seriously, we like Nooka, but we like the company a little less each time we watch this video.
