Only two weeks until the Valhalla of gaming returns again (ie: the annual electronic entertainment expo, E3) and this year’s line-up is so good it will make you weep. In fact, there are guest appearances from so many anticipated titles it’s hard to know what to weep for first.
Big UbiSoft launches and demos to look out for include Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Driver and Ghost Recon Future Soldier. The worldwide premiere of the AC: Brotherhood trailer will no doubt happen during UbiSoft’s press conference (5pm on the 14th US time). For us chumps that aren’t invited clips of their press conference, as well as interviews, trailers and game previews will be available to Australian viewers at ubi.com/au.

Hello Gears of War 3! The closing chapter in Epic’s franchise (don’t believe it, no one retires a cash cow before every last t-bone has been sucked dry) will feature four-player campaign co-op and a lady character. Sure, two small additions, but enough to have us trawling the net daily for screenshots and details.

This seems to be the year of resurrections with several old franchises rising from the dead and onto our credit card bills. Rockstar will be dusting off Mr Payne for Max Payne 3 while the geniuses over at Capcom will be previewing Capcom V Marvel 3 due for release next year.

The seventh Call of Duty installment titled, Call of Duty: Black Ops is set to be a blockbuster regardless of what new features they decide to pump in. Sure it’s more of the same from these guys, but who can blame them? We’re light on details right now, but come the Expo we’ll have much more to tell you.

All the new releases aside the new motion peripherals from Sony and Microsoft will be the most interesting reveals of the Expo. PlayStation Move and Xbox360 Project Natal both seem like great extensions (and obvious ones given the success of the Wii), but until we see them in action and find out more about the games on offer, we’re reserving judgment. (Ed – can’t wait to hear what Microsoft name the thing; suggestions welcome).
