And when you're one half of iconic '70/80s 'rock and soul' outfit Hall & Oates, Daryl Hall, you've got the cash and the connections to make those ideas a reality.

Back in 2007, Dazza decided one day he'd love to invite some of his muso mates over to his joint (a palatial Connecticut ranch with inbuilt studio and indoor pool), lay down some tracks, video the whole thing and put it on the interwebs. He did just that, called it Live From Daryl's House and got mad props from Rolling Stone, SPIN, Daily Variety, CNN, BBC and Yahoo! Music who all reckon it was an awesome example of a veteran musician who's managed to reconnect himself with modern music and become relevant again.

We've chosen his jam session with Canadian electro funk duo Chromeo as they bust out a take on the Hall & Oates classic 'I Can't Go For That'. It's seriously nice stuff and def worth checking out the rest of the series.

Based on the 'true story' of New York gangster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) and his violent attempted entry into LA, Gangster Squad looks like the slick celluloid lovechild of The Untouchables and LA Confidential. Scott's looking like he's gone back to his Alien roots to give us what is looking like another terrifying, potentially world-ending, sci-fi monster movie. And with a pretty solid cast including Michael Fassbender (personally would have like to see Lance Henrikson again but Fassbender's pretty rad too), Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Patrick Wilson, Prometheus is looking seriously promising.

Portugal The Man's All Your Light

Decapitating, trailer-trash, zombie wannabe vampire chicks run rampant in Portland-based psych-rock band Portugal. The Man's latest music video for their hauntingly desperate track 'All Your Light'.

If Larry Clarke and Alexandre Aja touched bits and made a baby, it'd be destined to direct a clip like this. The song itself is pretty decent despite a slightly repetitive and whiny chorus vocal, and we kind of wished there was more from the RZA, who's remix of the track appears for like 30 seconds. That said, def worth a look.

Jetman

51-year old ex-Swiss airforce pilot Yves Rossy AKA Jetman, is literally living the dream. The crazy bastard has managed to build himself a real life jetpack that hurtles him around the skies at speeds of up to 190mph.

Clearly an adrenaline junkie, Rossy was pushed to the edge after experiencing the balls-out rush of jumping out of a plane. Since then, he's been on a mission to push the boundaries of human flight. Pushing quickly past winged suits and sky surfing, Rossy spent 10 years on research and development, went through 10 prototypes and finally wound up with a custom-built winged jet suit that weighs 120lbs , has four engines, a wingspan of two metres and a tiny little hand-held throttle. Mad skills indeed.

After perfecting the jetpack's handling, Rossy embarked on his maiden voyage in May of 2008, across the Swiss Alps and in front of worldwide press. It was an epic success and since then Jetman's been seen shooting over the English Channel and the Grand Canyon like Buzz Lightyear on 'roids.
For you lucky bastards who saw him perform with Big Boi last year you might just see your head bobbing up in the sweaty crowd, with dude using tour footage from all the cities he visited in 2011. Us too. All the time. And so do the directors of Surviving Progress, a documentary revolving around the potential dangers and repercussions of an over advanced civilisation.

Oscar winning duo Harold Crooks and Mathieu Roy have teamed up with fellow oscar winning Martin Scorsese to bring us visually stunning yet pretty creepy look at the future. If you're a global warming sceptic and an Al Gore hater, then this scarily enlightening doco may just be the thing that has you growing your veggies and powering your house with your own faeces.
Surviving Progress will be screened in Australia sometime in July
Perhaps, but when you've got dudes like marine biologist Tierney Thys doing their thang with a high-powered deep sea microscope then we can't too far behind the infinitely gigantic 8-ball.
Another potentially unnecessary remake of a classic film hey? Wonderful, just what the world needs, more rehashed farts of anti-creativity. And wait, what, Colin Farrell is replacing Arnie? Great, again just what the world needs, more Irish douchebaggery on our screens.

But before we completely twist the blade, the trailer released for the new Total Recall actually looks not half bad.
