Remember that cutesy American Apparel ad from a couple of weeks back? The one with the little kids breakdancing? The one at the bottom of this this page? Yeah, well, it was shot by Tony Kelly and it’s basically a fashion industry in-joke. Tony, you see, is one of the smuttiest photographers around.
Born in Ireland and originally working as a war photographer covering assignments like Rwanda and Afghanistan, Tony figured there had to be an easier way to make a buck. Turns out there is: hyper glossy photos of naked women. Since turning his attention to the sleazy end of the market he’s won critical acclaim for his work with Playboy, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and GQ.
His style has been described as “irreverent, uncouth and provocative”. But all you really need to know is that his photos are super distracting and mostly naked. Check out the NSFW image gallery at your own risk.
