Swiss photographer, Yann Gross'
Kitintale Skate series depicting
the very first skate park to constructed in East Africa is a reminder
of how good skater's in the West have it. It hasn't always been the
way, but now it seems we're living in a time where the average
Australian skater has a multiple of skate facilities available within a
10 km radius from pretty much any urban location. We're pretty spoilt
really.
You've got to give it to the Ugandan skate craved locals who last year
in the city of Kampala constructed a skatepark about of bricks and
concrete. Probably not the best looking park in the world, and granted
that some of those cracks look like a broken wrist/elbow/knee/head
waiting to happen. But if these kids can dial a facility like this,
they're going to absolutely kill it if they ever get their hands on the
kush kind of facilities we have at our disposal. Power to em.
