For many trapped in the depths of suburbia, the mall represents the absolute center of the universe. It has it's own community, it's own ecosystem and even it's own laws. In Massachusetts' photographer Stephen DiRado captured the inhabitants of one such micro-society in his Mall Series.

There's unfortunately very little information about when and where the photographs have been taken but judging by the Madonna circa Desperately Seeking Susan wannabes depicted, I'm thinking they're from around 1985 (although it wouldn't surprise me if they were taken last week). Although mildly disappointed that I can't seem to find the 10 year old versions of Jay and Silent Bob that i keep expecting to see, these images are fantastic.

by the way, "mallrats" the film by Kevin Smith is really good. He did it just after "clerks" and it worth the search.

I love a mallrat, maybe I will go to the Fashion Capital and take some zip zap snaps of my very own this weekend.
