Richard Avedon's. Capturing the Civil Rights Movement in America, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and portraits of everyone from Alfred Hitchcock to Salvador Dali, Avedon's images are iconic and full of brevity. So today we're going to focus on his work with Gianni Versace!
It's a shame that print fashion advertisements are often seen as a low form of photography, when Avedon shows that if you execute them with skill and imagination they can transcend their commercial function. His work for Versace during the '90s – featuring Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and other Supermodel alumni – is pretty much perfect.
