Melbournians know them all too well but for those of you who've not
visited our great city, during the 1960s the urban landscape was
forever changed with the introduction of hi-rise low cost housing
scattered around the inner city... All in all around 40 or so of them.
They're a fucking eyesore, built from prefab pebble-crete and
alluminium but at the same time they've got the kind of views that most
could only dream about, and in terms of real estate are plonked on some
of the best land our city has to offer.
Earlier last year, prior to it's demolition in a
Melbourne inner city suburb, local photographer Paul Hermes ran his
lens over one of these towers. It's an interesting look at a Melbourne
icon that would never end up on travel brochure or postcard. Check some
