I have been close to bodybuilders before, both male and female. When we
were working on the Tough Edition of Lifelounge Magazine, Daniel
Pollock and I flew up to Queensland and covered the IFBB that was on at
the time. I was simply blown away with how surreal these guys and girls
looked. We got up close and personal with
Vince Taylor
for an interview, and to be honest, his arms are the same width as my
thighs, and I'm no fairy. It freaked me out.
So it is with much
interest that I see Martin Schoeller has decided to shoot the majestic
creatures in all their glory. Female bodybuilders are even more
startling than their male counterparts because they take you by
surprise. On one hand you re supposed to be attracted to them, on the
other you are repulsed. They are so masculine in their appearance that
it is just confusing.
