We're having quite the love connection with Mark Pillai today. The Paris based photographer creates the kind of parred down, Corrine Day-esque images that make elaborate fashion photography seem passe.
Apart from shooting for every major international magazine and you can think of (and every celebrity– LOVE YOU BEYONCE!), Pillai also has an expansive collection of model casting images. Rather than the usual 'stand, and look pretty' shots, Pillai's casting calls involve the models pulling faces, messing up their hair and actually talking to the photographer.
Talking to
Dazed and Confused, Pillai says the process is all to
" get to know the girls, to figure out their strengths or what makes them special, so I take my time to explore them as much as the situation allows, with my camera".
