Not a lot is known about photographer Kaya Yusi, and it seems like she likes it that way. What we can garner is that her passion for taking photos began when she was a teenager attending California’s Westhampton Beach High School* and a few of her shots got picked up by City Magazine. Not too shabby.
Her photography recalls stolen moments of party and bullshit youth, sharing cigarettes, swimming in your underwear, and making pinkie promises. Although it seems impossible that while a teenager Yusi would find that distance to create nostalgic shots of a time she was still experiencing, but it seems like she has. Joni Mitchell may have thought you don’t know what it’s got ‘til it’s gone, but it looks like this lady is making sure she remembers what she has.
*How much does that sound like the rival school from Beverly Hills 90210?
