There aren't many photographers who could make little white bottles of hair goop seem compelling, but John Laurie is just that good. The Australian photographer has done the latest campaign for haircare brand evo ® and apart from the fact that it seems to have almost nothing to do with hairstuffs, it's one of the best lookbooks we've ever seen.
Having worked for
Gourmet Traveller and
Vogue House and Garden, Laurie is well seasoned in photographing normal products in a striking way, but his evo ® shots are other level. We love the intricate detail (from the decorations of the old woman's house to the junk in the white trash family's backyard) and the humour, but even the stripped down shots without the bells and whistles are eye-catching.
The lookbook was also accompanied by a video by Luke Eblen which is worth checking out.
