Auckland-based shooter John Crawford is one of the best and most well known in all of New Zealand. His diverse subject matter ranges from portraits, landscapes, the abstract and even jazzed up iPhone shots. His portfolio also includes corporate projects for some of NZ's biggest design and communication firms including Lion Nathan, Fletcher Challenge, Fonterra, and Air New Zealand.
However, it's his aerial nude series that managed to catch our eyes. Crawford places his subject amongst a set of aerial backdrops including farmlands, car parks and even a moving truck in traffic. The people are often slightly hidden and become a kind of naughty
Where's Wally?. It's a simple idea with Crawford's clean and sharp aesthetic relying on natural light and the inherent colours of the settings in which he places the nude peeps, bringing a vivid life to the shots.
