Anyone familiar with
Ellen von Unwerth's work knows that she likes two things: women and fetish. Well that's unconfirmed, but she sure likes taking photos of scantily clad ladies in compromising situations.
Her latest exhibition 'Do Not Disturb' is inspired by the voyeurism of David Lynch's
Blue Velvet, allowing her audience to peek through a hole in the wall onto a dangerous sexuality. The funny thing is that even though her subjects (which are sometimes models, sometimes burlesque dancers) are next to naked, they don't appear vulnerable. On the contrary, Ellen's ladies seem like women you wouldn't want to cross.
