Philipp Lohöfener photographed one of the world's most terrifying prisons. Before the end of the Cold War and fall of the Eastern Bloc, the Stasi (secret police of East Germany) were one of the most feared police force on earth, collecting information by secretly infiltrating communities and feeding it to the government.
Although Berlin's Stasi prison hasn't been in occupied in 20 years, it's still an eerie space. Lohöfener even remarked on the smell and sound of the prison, saying "You get an uncomfortable feeling... I wanted to put over this discomfort in my images". Yikes.
