Even if some say they are designed as an intimidating reminder of our
relative insignificance when compared to a supposed almighty power they
are still some of the most beautiful buildings in the world. German
born, NY based photographer Christoph Morlinghaus visited a number of
architecturally striking houses of worship to create an amazing series
of images that capture the enormity of these structures with their
symmetry and repetition highlighted in a way that it's impossible not
to admire regardless of your philisophical views on religion. When
taken out of context, the structures in some of these images reflect
what you could imagine the interiors of space ships or alien housing to
look like. I wander if there's something in that... Perhaps TomKat
could shed some light on the matter while they're in our fine city. Hmm.
Anyway, they are breathtaking images. You should probably check them out (they're to the right of this post)
