Jeff Brouws: Approaching Nowhere
Typical American landscape photography might depict the flashing lights of Las Vegas, the palm lined boulevards of Santa Monica or the bustling Manhattan metropolis, but typical Jeff Brouws images are not.

In his series, Approaching Nowhere, Brouws' America reflects a post apocalyptic wasteland of abandoned ghost towns, highways and demolition sights. In stark contrast to the usual messages of a thriving land of the free and opportunity, his image paint an over franchised, discarded and abused country that reeks of soul selling exploitation. Amazing work though. To see more of Jeff Brouws visit his website here.

Love these kind of themed picss. Have always had a fascination with the wasteland/ghost town themed pics. Maybe it's a result of watching scooby-doo when I was a kid?

my guess is he went to detroit to take most of those photos... after living there for 3 years its easy to understand how a city can contain so much contrast (all within the space of 20kms)

Sounds like an interesting place. His photos are actually from all over the place but there are a couple of pics that were shot in Detroit. The above images are from Kansas City, Missouri and Brookings, South Dakota according to his website.
