You think Australia's public transport system needs an overhaul? American-born, China-based photographer Michael Wolf's latest series Tokyo Compression opens an intimate window into the city's knee-wobblingly claustrophobic subway system that will make you kneel down in thanks to the Met gods.
Wolf's subjects are Tokyo's subway commuters shot from outside the windows of the subway carriages they inhabit. Often wedged against the glass which has been fogged up from their hot morning breaths, the faces expressing a look of helpless resignation to Japan's dense populace and overworked infrastructure.
One thing's for sure though, next time someone drops their guts in the tram on the way to work, i'll be thinking of Tokyo before I whinge.
