Over a six year period, Danish photographer Joakim Eskildsen together with writer Cia Rinne traveled through seven different countries with a view to document and gain an understanding of the lives of the local Gypsy tribes. Travelling through Hungary, India, Greece, Romani, France, Russia and Finland the two spent long periods of time with each group at times even living with them for a while. The fascinating and textured images from this journey were put into a 416 page book The Roma Journeys Die Romareisen of 274 photographs. Below is a sample of some the amazing photographs of the Roma people and their world captured throughout the journey.
