When you first set eyes on Australian photo-artist Polixeni Papapetrou's latest two series, 'The Dreamkeepers' and 'Between Worlds', you'd be forgiven for thinking they were stills from a new live action version of The Dark Crystal or a reworking of The Wickerman. Creepy oversized masks complete with gnarly faces and bulbous noses and empty windswept landscapes give Papapetrou's fairytale-esque portraits an all too familiar dream-bordering-on-nightmare quality.
