The son of an avid amateur photographer, Manhattan-born Michael Tighe began shooting professionally by the age of 17 after cutting his teeth on high school formal portraits. Tighe went on to study with the likes of renowned portrait photographers Phillippe Halsman and Arnold Newman, eventually leading him to work on Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and high profile fashion shoots during the '70s.
During the '70 and '80s, Tighe managed to amass a stunning portfolio of intimate celebrity portraits captured during rehearsals, on film sets, and back stage. The rare and revealing photos tread a beautifully fine line between a deliberate photo shoot and tabloid exposé style.
