In the early '90s street photographer Richard Bram visited the Kentucky Derby Festival in Louisville and took photos of everything he found there. Shooting between 1991 and 1995, what Bram found was an absolute goldmine of big haired ladies and long haired gents enjoying carnival games, drinking heavily and circling each other in some sort of Kentucky Derby mating ritual. The series aptly titled Big Hair and True Love is a beautiful look at what goes down at the festival after dark: people get dressed up in their most boss clothes and pretend not to be checking each other out.
