How do soccer riots start? To Europeans social unrest seems to be a normal part of post-game entertainment, but from where we're sitting they're just bizarre. Oliver Maximilian is a German photographer who went to a soccer game in Warsaw that ended very badly.
Before the game had even started, fans of Russia and Poland (traditional soccer rivals with fans who tend to be riot-lovers) got into scuffles on the street, with legions of police called in to keep the peace. Camera in hand, Maximilian captured all the action, and even got pepper sprayed and kicked in the face himself. Talk about commitment to your craft.
