A lot of Nathanael Turner's photography might not seem to a consistent theme though its subjects – landscapes, documentary-style street shots, strange still lifes, portraits – but there is a strong style that permeates his folio. The lo-fi images seem to have a casual, off-handed approach despite the fact that Turner obviously puts a lot of time and thought into his composition. The LA-based photographer also manages to create a strange sense of voyeurism, even though the majority of his portrait subjects are facing the lens. A little grimy, a little strange – just how we like it.
