When you compile a book of your images entitled Naked, you’ve pretty much told people that they can expect a whole lotta scantily clad humans in there (also the case with Madonna’s Sex... titles can kind of limit you apparently). However Japanese born, London based photographer Mari Sarai doesn’t take your run of the mill pouty model wrapped in a sheet kinda deal, instead she shoots model friends and celebrities in their homes, and aims to take pictures of strong and chic women who are empowered rather than weakened by their ah, nude state. Influenced by the fashion photography of Helmut Newton and with work in Dazed and Confused, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, Sarai also sometimes takes photos of celebrities with their clothes on. How bourgeois! More at marisarai.com.
