Los Angeles-grown Greg Bojorquez began his career by shooting some pretty cool, pretty candid photographs of neighbourhood goings-on in East LA – lots of guns, tattoos and girls – and has since photographed Mos Def, Ice Cube and others. Bojorquez is well known for his book The Sun Rises In The East that was made up of images depicting LA street life and famously included an image of a young man who was shot and killed moments after the photo was taken. Bojorquez said (via artslant.com) "I knew that I had to keep capturing the street life around me while I was young in order to keep the spontaneity value alive in the imagery. I did not want to be some outsider with a camera, like many that have documented the east side before me." More at knowngallery.com.
