We have concluded that Katja Rahlwes may actually be the coolest person in the world. At 16-years-old she left her native Germany to live in London, before studying fashion design in Paris in the '80s. For most of the '90s she worked as a freelance stylist, which is how she met Oliver Zahm (co-founder of Purple). It was the start of a beautiful friendship, with Rahlwes frequently collaborating with the magazine for some of their most famous editorial spreads. (Remember that '09 shoot with Hilary Rhoda and the knife?) Between styling and taking photos, Rahlwes became Chief Fashion Editor at BIBA in Paris, and ever since has lived between there and New York taking photos of beautiful people. Are we right, or are we right? More at katjarahlwes.com.
