Every summer, Spaniards flock in their hundreds to the idyllic San Sebastian beach in search of that illusive golden brown tan. The young, old, rich and poor put on their fanciest togs, get their largest multicoloured towel and slap on the coconut oil by the gallon, and recently Danish photographer Christian Als was their to capture the ritual.
Despite being gourgeous images, Als' photographs make us a little uncomfortable. Perhaps living in Australia and having "SLIP SLOP SLAP!" repeated like a religious creed every time you leave the house makes such reckless skin damage hard to stomach.
