Bruce Davidson photographs in the United States for longer than you've been doing pretty much anything. We featured his intense, significant and insightful images of the Civil Rights Movement of the late 50s and 60s a couple of years back and now we're focusing attention on his fabulous Brooklyn Gang series. Davidson followed a gang of rebellious teenagers – who called themselves The Jokers – from Brooklyn throughout 1959 as they did all the things their mums told them not to. The series was apparently most recognised for showing the darker side to an era that was famous for its almost prudish innocence. Candid, thoughtful and documentary that is entirely human – his subjects are not just subjects. More at magnumphotos.com.
