These four South London 20-year-olds clad in black with sullen, unimpressed expressions on their faces are actually an amazing band, not a quartet of emo hipsters. The much-hyped band The XX; Romy Madley Croft, Baria Qureshi, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith met at south-west London’s Elliott School, like Hot Chip did. And they have lived up to expectations with their recent releases – their dreamy pop music is minimal, moody, sexy and melancholy all at once.
They're good.
PS. Review of their debut album in Lifelounge's upcoming Peace Edition.
