Perfectly timed for the Southern Hemisphere's summer (sorry, northerners) is
Vampire Weekend's 'Cousins' from their sophomore album
Contra, which is due to drop in January. We've already heard
'Horchata' but 'Cousins' is apparently slated to be the album's first single.
Like most previous
Vampire Weekend
offerings, 'Cousins' is an energetic, sunny, sweet little ditty with
plenty of surreal-ish lyrics from lead vocalist Ezra Koenig. Basically,
it's the opposite of maudlin.
Fingers crossed that the fact that we're already two singles in doesn't mean
Contra feels over-played before the album is
officially released.
