Australian alt-rock band The Vines apparently have called it quits after five albums and 10 years together.
According to FasterLouder, drummer Hamish Rosser says "the band has broken up" following rumours late last year that he and Ryan Griffiths had been kicked out of the group when they did not appear at The Vines' 2011 Homebake gig.
Although Rosser says that front man Craig Nicholls "may choose to carry on under The Vines’ name" he confirmed that The Vines were splitting due to personal differences between himself and Nicholls– largely due to the fact that Nicholls was not a fan of Rosser playing with other bands.
"Part of the reason for falling out with Craig is that I’ve always enjoyed playing in more than one band at any given time," he said to the website. "It's important for your growth as a musician to put yourself in different musical situations and this was always an issue with Craig".
Why is this an issue, you ask? Well looks like Rosser got a call from Wolfmother's Andrew Stockdale, offering him the chance to join the band. And badda bing badda boom, The Vines broke up. The other members of the band have made no comment as yet.
R.I.P The Vines. It was fun while it lasted.
