The term 'girl-band' conjures memories of the Spice Girls, The Donnas, Luscious Jackson. One doesn't seem to use the term when writing about Le Tigre, The Runaways, or Bikini Kill. Weird. (Meanwhile and one would never, ever use the term 'boy-band' when describing the likes of any decent all-male band, why? Is being inherintly pop a pre-requisite? Or is it matching chinos and linen shirts?)
Anyway, there's a point to this. Kind of. The Suzan is a four-piece band from Japan, now based in New York, and they are awesome. Also, they are all girls. (Never said the point was worthwhile.)
Their upcoming album will be released through Fool's Gold and is produced by Peter, Bjorn and John. 'Home' is a poppy, surfy, ditty made for the dancefloor. Cute and fun, want to see them live please.
