Good luck not forming a bit of a crush on St Vincent (AKA Annie Clark) a 26-year-old Texan who apparently spent a lot of her childhood
teaching herself how to play Metallica riffs. Since her album
Marry Me was released in 2007, St Vincent (a former member of the Polyphonc Spree) has been building up quite the follow-up. It's called
Actor and a few songs have been leaked from it; each better than and different from the last.
It bounces from electro-pop to folksy to indie to whatever else and the whole time Clark's voice is perfection.
