Neon Neon (made up of former Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip) have released their complete new album,
Stainless Style, on their myspace which is super friendly and generous. That, and featuring the likes of Spank Rock, Fatlip, Yo Majesty, and Har Mar Superstar mean it's shaping up to be a winner.
The album is based on Jon DeLorean, the real-life creator of the car that was turned into a time machine and driven around by Michael J. Fox in
Back to the Future, but he ended up involved with sneaky money tricks and drug addiction. Rhys's Brit-pop and rock sensibilities and Boom Bip's hip hop and dance background makes for some interesting listening and elements of most genres you can think of permeate through the tracks.
