Yeah, yeah, we know. Lil Wayne looks like a crackhead, slurs like a drunk and has an unhealthy enthusiasm for cough syrup. Don’t let that fool you. He’s actually a lyrical genius.

Listen to one his records (properly) and you quickly realise there’s a method to his madness. While most MCs are happy to talk about the same old topics we’ve loved for 30 years, Weezy and his syrup are on some outta space isht. Hate all you want, but dude’s last album Tha Carter 3 had more original ideas than most rappers manage in a lifetime.

The accompanying documentary (an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival), goes behind the scenes and gives us a closer look at his beautiful mind. And his messed up world.
