We blame Brian Wilson, Panda Bear and the loop pedal for the proliferation of never-ending harmonies that have been bubbling around of late. Not that it’s a bad thing; in fact it’s quite the opposite, as what’s more pleasant to listen to than one dainty voice? Three or four.
Brooklyn-based Julianna Barwick dabbles in a bit of the ol’ fruity loops to great effect. Diplo gave her mad shouts via his Twitter, describing her sound as “new music that sounds like carebears making love,” (note: probably true) and Pitchfork also heaped a bunch of praise on the gal.
